Hi! I'm Jason.
I am currently a master's student at Texas A&M University studying computer science. I graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor's of Science and Arts in Mathematics in Spring of 2019. I taught Algebra 1 and 2 at Vista Ridge High School for three years in between my Bachelor's and Master's.
Computer Science
Computers have always fascinated me since childhood. But as an adult, I have come to realize that computers play an integral part to our world today. My interest in computer science started from an interest in automating very menial tasks such as emailing parents about their student's missing assignments. This interest has developed into a desire to both create practical software solutions and to develop and create novel models to support underrepresented groups.
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing has been a big part of my life for the past 10 years. This drive and passion for climbing has shaped my worldview towards continuous self-improvement and a work-hard attitude in all aspects of my life.
Notable Climbs
Carnage V13 King Critter Sit V12
Dismantling the Enemy V12 Tail of the Dragon V10 Flash
Mind Matters V12 Predator V10 Flash

Spanish Language Learning
Recently, I have found myself interested in Hispanic culture and the Spanish language.
Over the last two years, I have dedicated time and effort into learning Spanish and immersing myself into the culture of various Latin American countries. Now, I can confidently say that I am fluent (not perfect!) in Spanish and speak it at around a C1 level. I love the rich history that ancient civilizations have built all throughout Latin America, as well as the music and food that modern culture has developed. From going to see Morat (a Colombian boy band who I use to practice my listening skills) live in concert to visiting Mexico City, my passion for this culture has been a focal point of my learning.
You can see in my current research that a couple of the projects revolve around the Spanish language or the Hispanic population. As there is a huge number of Spanish speakers who may not speak English in Texas, combined with the improving but existing lack of diversity in STEM fields, there a need for people who can advocate for these people but still have the technical knowledge to do something about it.
